BOROUGH, TOWN AND PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS – Thursday 4 May 2023

Elections for all seats on High Peak Borough Council and Town and Parish Councils in the Borough are taking place on Thursday 4 May.

There was a briefing on 1 March for those considering becoming a candidate in these elections. If you were unable to attend this briefing, a recording will be made available. Please advise angela.sherratt@highpeak.gov.uk if you’d like the link to this recording to be sent to you

Voter ID

The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station. This new requirement will apply for the first time in England at the local elections on Thursday 4 May 2023. .

How to vote in person

A Poll card for each member of the household who is registered to vote will be delivered before the election. The Poll card will tell you the date of the Election, where your Polling Station is and the hours it will be open. You do not need to take your Poll card with you to be able to vote.

  • A list of accepted ID is available on the Electoral Commission’s website. Anyone who does not have one of the accepted forms of ID will be able to apply for free ID online or by completing a paper form.
  • Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.
